Multiple Location Inventory & Sales

Overview

Our Shopify integration works with Shopify's "Multiple Location" functionality; meaning we can support you if you have multiple physical locations that you're pulling inventory from. In this article, we'll talk about how this feature works with "split" orders where inventory is being pulled from multiple stores.

Split Orders

If you have inventory spread through multiple different physical locations, it's important that when an order is made online that items in your inventory iare deducted from the correct places. For example, if all your red shoes are located in store A, while all your black shoes are located in store B, and a customer orders both red shoes and black shoes, then we need to decrement (or decrease) the inventory in both stores for the correct products. Luckily, this is how our integrations currently work; inventory is managed correctly regardless of how many locations are used in a given order.

When it comes to the financial side of the order, however, the sale will only be attributed to one location. So, for example, if an order is placed for items from three different locations, the inventory for those three locations will be correctly changed, but only one location will have the value of the sale attributed to them. We can control which of your stores gets "credit" for the sale, but by default we attribute it to a web store, so you can easily tack the sales made from your website. If you want a different location to be the default, let us know; changing it is a quick process.
