Overview
Sometimes, you might want to change a product image on your BigCommerce website. Changing the image for a Gift Card is a bit different; here, we'll walk you through changing the image for your Gift Cards on your website.
Changing your Gift Card Image
When changing your gift card image, it's tempting to just try and edit the current product and change the image, but there are some more steps you need to take to ensure that your gift card always has an image attached to it. The steps are as follows:
- Create a whole new gift card product.
- Disable the old gift card
This way, the old gift card link and image URL still exist in the database, so that orders made previous to the image update still have an image that goes along with it.
Variant/Denomination Images
You may wish to have different images on each eGift Card denomination, or wish to have a list of eGift Cards for a specific celebration (ie. Birthday, Mother's Day, Congratulations, etc).
One limitation of the eGift Card integration is that it only supports one image per product page. It does not support a different image per variant, and it does not support having more than one image to select from (ie. it does not support allowing the customer to select an occasion + a denomination).
In these instances, you will need to create separate eGift Card product pages per occasion. This may require additional development work to support multiple eGift Card products. Please contact your project manager or submit a support ticket for further instructions on supporting this approach.
