Question
Hi. I am looking for a solution to the problem of too many systems and the resulting duplication of effort, while also looking to expand our business with an e-commerce platform that limits further duplication of efforts.
I am curious if there is a solution that simplifies the ordering of inventory through ERP, updating product in our POS, selling product, and then closing out the daily sales back in our ERP — all while considering that, as a small shop, I would like to have 10 units of one item available to sell simultaneously in store and through our E-com platform without concern for stock availability being misrepresented.
We are currently using OpenErp, and I am looking into using Shopify.
Answer
Thank you for your interest in Modern Retail.
We have looked into an integration with OpenERP, which as I’m sure you know has been rebranded as Odoo. An integration between Odoo and Shopify is possible because they have an open application programming interface (API).
However, to do an integration with Odoo, we would need to speak with someone from their tech department who understands their API. Sure, we could look at their API on our own, but we’ve found it is far more efficient, and less expensive for you, if we can get our developers in a room together with their developers. It really does help to “short circuit” the process.
You’ll find we’re experts at POS and ERP integrations; it’s something we've been doing for over a decade and have amassed a great deal of knowledge and technology. Here are just some of the articles we could share with you:
- Avoid Overselling (Allocation) - Absolutely a brilliant feature!
- Difference Engine
- 100% Inventory Accuracy
- Connecting Disparate Systems
- Integrating Existing Products
Please let me know if you need anything else or would like to jump on a call before getting with Odoo.
Thank you and have a nice weekend.
