Should I SSL-protect my entire website? I'm seeing a lot of shopping websites now use HTTPS for the entire site and not just checkout. What do you think?

Yes, absolutely! SSL-protecting an entire website does take some additional computer resources and is something our Magento clients need to consider. However, protecting the entire website using SSL is definitely where the industry is heading. Google announced in August 2014 that it was going to start using HTTPS as a ranking signal. Additionally, Shopify announced in February 2016 that it too was starting to use HTTPS as the default for all websites.
It won't be long before Bigcommerce adds this option, which means people running websites on Magento and WooCommerce will be forced to do the same!
