Hi, I am a web developer and have a new client who is in the furniture parts manufacturing business. They have a large warehouse and currently have no ecommerce solution. I am in the process of building an ecommerce site for them right now. Typically, we use Joomla and HikaShop for ecommerce. However, there seem to be a lot more extensions and things available for WooCommerce for WordPress. This is the direction I am leaning.
They need a warehouse management system. Something where they can make barcodes and scan inventory into a system. They will not be selling anything at a physical location. This will be 100% ecommerce sales. With that said, what can you recommend for us to use? We need to manage the warehouse inventory and have it sync with the shopping cart inventory. If there is an online sale, that needs to automatically have a message (or something) sent to the warehouse to let them know. Thank you.
Sounds like your client needs an ERP system (instead of a POS system). While we integrate with a bunch of POS and ERP systems, we’re not a consulting company that helps companies pick the perfect POS system for their business. Frankly, it would be very difficult for me to tell you which is the “best” system for your client. However, you will most likely find the following article interesting:
I’d be happy to have a conference call with you as well; just know that I’m not an expert in all these systems – although I might be able to give you some guidance based on your requirements.
Thanks and have a nice weekend.
