Switching POS Systems with Website Integration

Question

I took a look at your integrations, and I have to say, I find your model very interesting.  In particular, I'm interested in knowing if you can help me if I ever decide to switch POS systems in the future.  Today, I'm using Quickbooks POS, but I don't think it will meet our needs as we continue to grow and add stores.  However, I would like to use your services now to get Quickbooks POS integrated with my website, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot later.

Can you help me with my transition from Quickbooks POS to another POS system?  Seems like your middleware and integration would handle this nicely.  Thank you.

Answer

I have to say, you're one of the few people who's ever recognized this "built in feature" of our integrations.  Yes, we can absolutely help you with this transition to a new POS, and here's why.

Modern Retail's Integrator is actually a set of services and technologies that connects e-commerce platforms to various POS and ERP systems.  Our Integrator can more aptly be called "middleware" as it connects two disparate systems together.

Since our Integrator sits in the middle, it understands what's being transferred back and forth between your POS or ERP and your website.  Therefore, it is fairly easy for us to transition you from one POS system to another.

Here's how it works using Quickbooks POS as an example.  Items are uniquely identified in Quickbooks POS using what's called an Item Number.  If you were to move to a new POS system, your new POS vendor would import the products from Quickbooks POS along with these item numbers.  The new system would then have these old Item Numbers along with their own unique identifier.  When you're ready to cut over to your new POS system, they simply need to give us the "mapping" from these old Quickbooks Item Numbers to the new identifiers in their system.  Modern Retail uses this information to run an update in the middle of the night, "pointing" the products from your website to the new POS system.  We, of course, need to cut you over to your new POS system's integration which will also be done at the same time.

This ends up to be a painless process for our clients.  Basically, they go to bed, and when they wake up, their website is running and connected to their new POS system.

Please let us know if you have any more questions about our integration technology or how we can help you.  Thank you.
