Question
We're using an integration from someone else, and it doesn't sync fast enough for our needs. We also have trouble with inventory and prices not updating sometimes, and we're looking for a more robust solution. This seems to be a scaling issue with my current provider's Magento integration. Can you help?
Answer
Yes, we can help you, and I believe I know exactly what you're experiencing with your inventory problems. We’ve been working on our Magento Integrator for over 6 years, and frankly, we failed miserably in our first year. We too had issues with inventory not synchronizing fast enough between the POS systems and Magento. Basically, the problem is you cannot use the Magento API to update products; it simply does not work fast enough.
Here’s a real example of what happened to us 6 years ago. We had a large shoe store with a very big inventory of about a quarter million products. Well, they decided to put all their inventory on sale at one time. Using Magento’s default API, it took OVER 4 DAYS to update all the prices!
Needless to say, we learned a lot from that experience and went back to the drawing board to completely rebuild our Magento Integrator. Our new Magento Integrator, which we've been using for years now, can do the same sort of mass update in a matter of minutes!
We're lucky to have some very big retailers using our Magento Integrator and have zero issues updating catalogs of even a half a million products.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about our Magento Integrator. Thank you.
