Question
I have a client that has invested already in a POS system called SMART-IT (Cape Town, South Africa). The system's website is here http://www.smart-it.co.za/. The client wanted to connect this POS to Prestashop, only because this is what SMART-IT offers, but I would prefer to use WooCommerce if possible. The SMART-IT POS is not on your list, unfortunately. Can this integration be done, or must I contact SMART-IT for this?
Answer
Thank you for your interest in Modern Retail. We would love to help you get WooCommerce integrated with Smart-It. The following article describes your options around this integration:
I took a look at the Smart-It website but could not find any information about an application programming interface (API), although I did find a mention of some import/export capabilities. If Smart-It has an API, then it would be fairly easy to get their API connected to our API. If they don’t have an API, then we could always use Modern Retail's Inventory CSV/XML Uploader using FTP. We have a variety of other methods that we’ve used over the years which we could also try.
May I make a suggestion? Could you please send an e-mail to your representative at Smart-It and let them know you’re interested in getting their application integrated with WooCommerce? If you copy me on the message, I’ll immediately reply asking to set up a meeting with Smart-It. Getting our developers to talk with their developers, even for 30 minutes, makes a huge difference and can really help to “jump start” the integration efforts.
Please let me know if you need anything else or would like to jump on a call before getting with Smart-It. Thank you.
