Question

My client is a clothing/accessory retailer, and I've been building her website. I used a theme that works with WooCommerce, and she wants to integrate her in-store inventory with her website so that if something sells in store, it updates the online inventory. She went with a POS system called ShopKeep, and I wanted to know if you could build an integrator for that and wondered how user friendly it is. As far as web design, I don't have a vast knowledge, but I've been working with pre-made themes and customizing them for quite sometime. Just so you know - so you don't overload me with a bunch of CSS/HTML lingo I won't understand. :)

Answer

Thank you for contacting Modern Retail.  We would love to help you and your customer with an integration between ShopKeep and WooCommerce.  Unfortunately, we don't yet have an integration between WooCommerce and ShopKeep.  However, we are on ShopKeep's list to be part of their Beta Program as soon as they release their Application Programming Interface (API).

May I make a suggestion?  Could you please ask your client to send an e-mail to your representative at ShopKeep and let them know you’re interested in getting ShopKeep integrated with WooCommerce?  If you copy me on the message, I’ll immediately reply and get the person I've been working with at ShopKeep.  Hopefully, with enough of us banging on them, they'll open up their API to us sooner than later.

Now to answer your questions & points:

  1. I used a theme that works with WooCommerce, and she wants to integrate her in-store inventory with her website so that if something sells in store, it updates the online inventory.
    • Yes, that’s exactly what our integrations do; they keep your client’s in-store inventory synchronized with their website.
  2. She went with a POS system called ShopKeep, and I wanted to know if you could build an integrator for that and wondered how user friendly it is.
    • Yes, we'd love to help you build an integration between ShopKeep and WooCommerce.  As soon as we get added to their Beta Program, we'll get started on the development of the integration. Yes, our integrations are very user-friendly, and I believe you'll quickly forget about it, which is exactly what we want.
  3. As far as web design, I don't have a vast knowledge, but I've been working with pre-made themes and customizing them for quite sometime. Just so you know - so you don't overload me with a bunch of CSS/HTML lingo I won't understand. :)
    • The only acronym I threw at you was API, and don’t worry if you don’t know what an API is or does – that’s why you have us. ;-)

Let me know if you have any more questions.  Thank you.

Question

I'm looking for a solution to integrate ShopKeep POS with my WooCommerce websites. Can you tell me if you have a solution? I'd also like to speak with someone about what Modern Retail is all about.  Thanks so much!

Answer

Thank you for your interest in Modern Retail and an integration with ShopKeep.  I love your question about what we’re all about!  To boil it down, we do two things:

  1. AGENCY
We build websites on Bigcommerce, Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento for our customers.  We’re a full-service company doing everything including design, development, marketing, and support.  We’ve been doing this for almost 18 years now and have built nearly 500 websites.
  2. INTEGRATOR
We get POS and ERP systems integrated with Bigcommerce, Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento.  We’ve been doing this for over 10 years now and have close to 1,300 integrations.

Regarding your question about an integration with ShopKeep, they haven’t yet made their application programming interface (API) available yet.  An API gives you the ability to connect ShopKeep to 3rd party websites and services. We signed up for their “API beta program” in early 2015, but it has not been made available yet to the public.

However, all is not lost!  We can get you integrated now with ShopKeep and help you transition to their API once it becomes available.  The following article explains what this integration looks like today:

Please let me know if you have any question; I’d be happy to jump on a call with you.  Thanks.
