Website
Defining these colors in Magento allows visitors to your website to shop by color. Marketplaces
Many marketplaces such as Google Shopping want the color associated with the products you're selling. Failure to set the Color attribute in Magento will cause many marketplaces to complain, and they may not let you sell the product until this Color attribute is set.
Even if you have no intention of selling your products in a marketplace, Modern Retail always recommends you set the color for every product in your catalog.
