Is there a limit to how many products I can integrate with Shopify? I have a very large catalog and would like to send every single product and variant to Shopify. My point of sale (POS) system seems to handle them just fine, and I would assume Shopify can as well. I currently have 90,000 different SKUs in my POS system.
This all depends on the size of your catalog. Shopify has limits on the number of API calls we can make. This places limitations on how many updates, and consequently, how many products we can send or integrate between your POS system and Shopify. They are:
- 2 updates per Second
- 120 updates per Minute
- 7000 updates per Hour
Therefore, your 90,000 item catalog will take almost 13 hours to initially load into Shopify. Luckily, with our Shopify Integrator you do not need to send all 90,000 products with every update. Instead, we are only sending the changes to inventory and pricing on subsequent uploads to Shopify. Assuming you only make hundreds or thousands of updates per day, you should be okay. Of course, if you decide you want to place everything in store on sale, then you're looking at 1/2 day just to mark everything on sale in Shopify.
I hope that answers your question. Please let us know if you need anything else. Thank you.
