Question
When a person places an order, their debit card has a pending charge applied. Does the card have a second pending charge when the order is processed?
Answer
The system is set up right now that when an order is placed, the card is Authorized Only. When you process the order, we use that original authorization and capture the funds. We do not authorize again, so there should only be one pending charge and the capture is of the original authorization.
As stated in Authorize.net:
"Prior Authorization and Capture"
"This transaction type is used to complete an Authorization Only transaction that was successfully authorized through the payment gateway. An Authorization Only and a Prior Authorization and Capture together are considered one complete transaction. After the Prior Authorization and Capture is submitted, the transaction will be sent for settlement."
