Google PageSpeed Insights

Google PageSpeed Insights measures the performance of your website on desktop and mobile devices.  The PageSpeed score ranges from 0 to 100 with a higher score being better. PageSpeed Insights gives you ideas and suggestions on how to improve the performance of your website.  However, it may not be possible to implement all the suggestions from Google, and network connection performance varies considerably.

However, you need to take the results with a grain of salt.  People often look at the results and immediately think their website is "broken" because Google suggests things need to be "fixed".  Modern Retail goes so far as to say the Google PageSpeed results are flawed and not all that accurate.

Need proof?  Ok, let's run the tests on two extremely popular websites: Google and Amazon.

Wait a minute the Google Search page includes a couple of graphics, some text and one form and it only scores a 53 for speed?  Ok, the most popular shopping website on the planet has got to do better and score a perfect 100.  Right?  Not exactly.

Certainly a faster website is better than a slower website, just don't let this Google PageSpeed test be your only gauge on how well your website is performing.
