Overview
Selling your products on Amazon requires some basic upkeep to ensure the information Modern Retail is sending is correct. This upkeep involves setting some Amazon variables whenever you create a new Department in Store Manager and when you add new Products. Luckily, Store Manager has made setting these required Amazon values fairly easy.
Amazon Requires UPCs
First, all your products must have a UPC code assigned to the products. This is something that comes directly from your POS or ERP system. To understand which of your products have valid and invalid UPC codes, please go to Products > Reports > Product UPCs in Store Manager. This report shows you which products have valid UPC codes in your catalog. Right or wrong, Amazon will not accept your products unless they have a valid UPC.
Please note, UPC codes cannot be entered directly in Store Manager, you must enter UPC codes in your POS or ERP system.
New Department Setup
Whenever you add a new Department in Store Manager, you'll need to remember to go to Marketing > Marketplaces > Marketplace Selector and select the appropriate Amazon Clothing Type from the dropdown.
Configuring your Departments is easy, simply:
- Make sure Amazon Marketplace is selected.
- Pick Departments to be viewed.
- Choose the correct Amazon Clothing Type from the dropdown.
- Click Update when done.
Some vendors don't allow you to sell their products on Amazon. Fortunately, it is easy to exclude individual vendors (Categories) from being sent to Amazon.
- Make sure Amazon Marketplace is selected.
- Pick Categories to be viewed.
- Uncheck the box next the brand or designer you want to exclude.
- Click Update when done.
New Product Setup
Whenever you add new products, you need to visit the Amazon Attributes page to set the Material Fabric attribute. While Store Manager makes it easy to set this variable, you need to remember to go to this page and set this value every time you add products.
Store Manager has a nice feature that allows you to set the Material Fabric values for every product in a specific Department or Category. This feature is especially helpful when you're initially setting up your catalog for Amazon. Go to Marketing > Marketplaces > Amazon Attributes and set these values by:
- Selecting either Departments or Categories and then picking the appropriate department or category from the dropdown.
- Make sure Material Fabric is picked from the dropdown and enter the fabric type in the box.
- Click on Change and you'll notice the Material Fabric type you entered gets populated for every product.
- Click Save when done.
Of course, you wouldn't want to use the above method if you've already performed these steps when you first set up your catalog. Instead, if you simply need to configure some newly added products, then you'll want to enter the Material Fabric types directly:
- Enter the Material Fabric type in the box directly next to your products.
- Hit Save when done.
