We've run into an issue with a small handful of clients regarding duplicate custom fields in BigCommerce. In this article, we'll discuss how you should handle custom fields, and what the consequences of having accidental duplicates are.
Duplicate Custom Fields
We've noticed issues with pricing updates for certain clients who, upon further examination, had multiple of the same custom field. Duplicate custom fields attached to a product can cause a variety of issues with that product, including price and inventory update failures.
Duplicate custom fields serve no practical purpose in BigCommerce, and should be deleted when found. Doing so should fix any issues that the presence of the additional field may have originally caused. For additional caution, we recommend deleting both duplicates, and then re-adding the correct field.
