HTTP Websites Labeled as Non-Secure

Overview

Google's Chrome browser will start labeling websites that use HTTP as non-secure starting in October 2017.  Google's position is the internet will be safer when every website is encrypted with HTTPS and they have been pushing this position to try to get website owners to move to HTTPS exclusively.

There are countless articles written about this topic and here's just two if you'd like more information:

HTTPS Enhancement

If your website is running Magento 1.9 then chances are we'll need to enhance your website to support HTTPS.  Modern Retail will be implementing the following extension on our Magento 1.9 websites as part of this enhancement:

Unfortunately, this enhancement is not as easily as simply installing this extensions, Modern Retail will need to make several modifications to your website code as well.  While these changes vary from site to site, we expect most sites to take only 1 or 2 days worth of work.

How do I know if I need this enhancement?

If you are running Magento 2 you don't need it as all our Magento 2 sites are already running under HTTPS.  If you're using Magento 1.9 then you will soon be sent a Support Request, if one hasn't been set to you already.

If you have any questions please reply to the Support Request we have created for you or create a new ticket.  Thank you.
