Overview
If you're utilizing Inventory by Location features, you may want to split line items to allow inventory from separate locations to fulfill a single order, even if that order is multiple instances of a single product. Alternatively, you may want to cancel an item from an order with multiple of that item. In this article, we'll discuss how to split line items so you can cancel some of one product type on an order.
Splitting Line Items
In order to split line items on a product, you'll want to head to the Shipments menu underneath Orders in the Admin Panel.
From here, you'll see a list of shipments. You can use the textboxes at the top of each column to help find any specific shipments you're looking for. Once you've found the shipment you want to split a line item on, click on the Shipment Number.
This will open a menu for that individual order, displaying information about that order.
To split a line item, head to the Qty Ordered column highlighted above. Change the number in the dropdown, and you'll see a confirmation screen asking if you want to split the line item.
Click submit, and the order will now have two separate line items for the given product. Now you can click on the Cancel button to the right of either of those line items.
This will allow you to cancel an individual item from this order.
