Overview
If you're utilizing Inventory by Location features, you may want to split line items to allow inventory from separate locations to fulfill a single order, even if that order is multiple instances of a single product. In this article, we'll discuss how to split line items and transfer orders to different locations.
Splitting Line Items
In order to split line items on a product, you'll want to head to the Shipments menu underneath Orders in the Admin Panel.
From here, you'll see a list of shipments. You can use the textboxes at the top of each column to help find any specific shipments you're looking for. Once you've found the shipment you want to split a line item on, click on the Shipment Number.
This will open a menu for that individual order, displaying information about that order.
To split a line item, head to the Qty Ordered column highlighted above. Change the number in the dropdown, and you'll see a confirmation screen asking if you want to split the line item.
Click submit, and the order will now have two separate line items for the given product. Now you can click on the Transfer button in the upper right corner of this menu to transfer one of the items to another location.
This menu will give you a variety of options for altering how you're fulfilling a given inventory item on an order.
Change whichever options you need to using the dropdown, and hit Submit.
